摘要 PURPOSE: To provide an automatic focus position detecting device for a microscope capable of detecting a position where the maximum value of contrast is accurately given even in the case of using a non-total scanning contrast method in a microscope having a zonal illumination system such as a phase contrast microscope. CONSTITUTION: This device is constituted of a zonal aperture 1 for deciding the numerical aperture of illuminating light guided from the zonal illumination system not shown in figure to a condenser lens 2, a stage 3 for placing an observed sample illuminated by light from the lens 2, an objective lens 4 and an image-formation lens 5 for guiding the image of the sample to an image pickup element 6, a preamplifier 10 for amplifying the voltage of an electrical signal transmitted from the image pickup element 6, an A/D converter 9 for A/D converting and guiding a signal from the preamplifier 10 to a CPU 8, and an adjusting means 7 for moving the stage 3 based on a signal generated by the CPU 8.
