PURPOSE: To provide both a method for screening a compound having the ability to induce the transcription from a promoter and a method for screening a compound capable of imparting the resistance to disease and insect damage in plants. CONSTITUTION: This method for screening a compound hating the ability to induce the transcription from a promoter comprises a step for treating a plant body, derived from a plant cell and containing an expression cassette having (1) a promoter of a peroxidase gene derived from the plant, (2) a reporter gene, transcribed and translated with the promoter and (3) a terminator capable of functioning in the plant cell in the form of the genes capable of functioning or its part with the compound which is a specimen and a step for detecting the presence or absence of the expression of the reporter gene in the plant body or its part after the above step. |
