PURPOSE: To obtain complete peeling strength for the connection end face of an optical connector by setting the Young's modulus of a reflection preventing film within a specified range. CONSTITUTION: A pair of positioning holes 21 in which a pair of positioning pins whose leading end is projected from the connection end face 19 of one ferrule 18 is closely fitted is formed on the connection end face 19 of another ferrule 18, whereby the alignment of optical fibers 17 is accurately performed. The reflection preventing film 22 is formed on the connection end face 19 of the ferrule 18 so as to cover the leading surface of the optical fiber 17. The reflection preventing film 22 is constituted of thermosetting silicone resin in which silane coupling agent is blended and having refractive index nearly equal to the core part of the optical fiber. The Young's modulus of the reflection preventing film 22 is set to be within a range >=50kg/mm<2> and <=300kg/mm<2> . |
