PURPOSE: To provide a compact composite insulator having a long leakage distance, provide a segment used for manufacturing the composite insulator, and obtain the manufacturing method of the composite insulator using the segment. CONSTITUTION: Leakage distance extending means 6 are provided on the lower faces 4b of shade sections 4 to form a composite insulator 1. A segment 11 is provided with a through hole 14 to be inserted with a core section 2 at the center portion, one end face forms the upper face 4a of the shade section 4, the other end face forms the lower face 4b of the shade section 4, a pair of segment die faces 12-1 splittable at a butt face 13 are formed, and leakage distance extending means formation sections are provided on the lower faces 4b of the shade section 4. Multiple segments 11 are integrated, a core section 2 is inserted into the through hole 14 of a die 21 integrated with plural segments 11, an elastic polymer material is injected between the die 21 and the core section 2, the injected elastic polymer material is hardened, then the segments 11 are divided at the butt face 13 and released from the segment dies 12-1 to manufacture the composite insulator 1. |
