摘要 PURPOSE: To eliminate the shortage of damping force mainly in medium-high speed areas so as to obtain a damping force characteristic close to an ideal. CONSTITUTION: A pressing side damping force adjusting device for a hydraulic shock absorber has a center rod 72 provided in the axially movable state in a valve housing and provided with an oil hole 73 along the center axis, a first leaf valve 98 and a second leaf valve 95 fitted to the periphery of the center rod 72 so as to respectively partition a first oil chamber 110, a second oil chamber 109 and an intermediate oil chamber 106 communicated with the lower part of a cylinder 2 in the valve housing 6 and an external tank, and a needle valve 79 for opening/closing the opening part of the oil hole 73 communicated with the intermediate oil chamber 106 and the second oil chamber 109. At the pressing stroke time of a piston rod, the second leaf valve 95 and the needle valve 79 are opened to generate damping force in all speed areas, and when differential pressure exceeding the set level between the second oil chamber 109 and the first oil chamber 110 is generated, the second leaf valve 95 and the first leaf valve 98 are opened to generate damping force in medium-high speed areas.
