PURPOSE: To facilitate positioning and control at driving time by providing projection parts which come into contact with other sides at an obtuse angle in plane view at both end parts of substrates other. CONSTITUTION: A substrate unit 1 for an optical device is constituted which has projections formed on 1st edges 13 and 2nd edges 14 at both end parts of a long-sized substrate 2 by polishing both the end parts and is nearly hexagonal in plane view. The 1st end edge 13 which forms the projection part of the substrate unit 1 for the optical device has one adjacent flank formed at the obtuse angle. The 2nd end edge 14 also has its flank formed at the obtuse angle adjacently to one flank. Further, the 1st end edge 13 and 2nd end edge 14 adjoin to each other at the obtuse angle. An optical element chip is mounted on the optical unit 1 for the optical device which has the projection parts and plural substrate units 1 are arrayed to constitute the optical device. |
