PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve handlability or the like by arranging an operation mechanism extending to a fastening assembly through a slender body from handle assembly to operationally relate an actuator of the fastening assembly to the operating mechanism when the fastening assembly is mounted on the slender body. SOLUTION: A surgical stapler 10 has a handle part 12, a slender body part 14 and a cartridge assembly 16 linked to a far end of the body part 14. The handle part 12 has a slender barrel part 18 and a handle grip part 20. A motor assembly 22 containing a gear set 24 for uncreasing torque is arranged in the barrel part 18. Batteries 45a and 45b is arranged in the handle grip part 20 to supply power to the motor assembly 22. The cartridge assembly 16 is equipped with a working beam 100 to discharge cartridges in succession interlocking the actuation of an anvil member 86 to a holding cartridge 90.
