SEALED SECONDARY BATTERY

PURPOSE: To provide a sealed secondary battery in which an electrode plate group can be pressurized even when the thickness of the electrode plate group is reduced or a battery jar is swollen. CONSTITUTION: A box-like or bag-like elastic synthetic resin spacer 3 which is swollen by the pressure rise of a gas generated at charging of a battery to pressurize an electrode plate group 1 is arranged on the laminating directional outside part of the electrode group 1 within a battery jar 2. The elastic synthetic resin spacer 3 has a gas inlet passage 5 for introducing the gas of the upper space 4 in the battery jar 2 into the elastic synthetic resin spacer 3. The top end of the gas inlet passage 5 is arranged in the upper space 4 within the battery jar 2.
