PURPOSE: To provide the silver halide photographic sensitive material high in sensitivity and small in fog and superior in sharpness and improved in stability against time lapse and capable of obtaining an image small in residual dye stains by the development processing in a short time. CONSTITUTION: The silver halide photographic sensitive material has, on a supporting body, at least one nonphotosensitive hydrophilic colloidal layer containing a fine solid particle dispersion of a dye represented by the formula in which D is an N atom or an N<+> R1 or O<+> or S<+> group; R1 is an H atom or an alkyl or alkenyl group; Z1 is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a heterocyclic group; Q is an aryl group or a heterocyclic group; X<-> is an anion; k is 0 or 1; each of l and m is 0 or 1; n is 1, 2, or 3; and each of L1 -L4 is a methine group and at least one of L1 and L2 is a methine group substituted by an electron withdrawing group having a Hammett's substituent constantσp of >=0.3.
