<p>PURPOSE: To highly accurately detect the tracking shift amount by operating/ determining the sensitivity expressed by a predetermined ratio from the change with time of a signal difference of pilot signals recorded respectively in both areas adjacent to a track and, detecting the tracking shift amount based on the sensitivity. CONSTITUTION: While a magnetic tape is sent at a constant speed different from the ordinary time, the change with time of a signal difference 1 of reproducing pilot signals recorded in both areas adjacent to a track is stored in a recording device A3, and a differential value of the change of the signal difference 1 in the time-base direction is obtained at a differential circuit 4. A peak of the differential value is detected by a peak position-detecting circuit 5. An operating circuit 6 operates an inclination of the change with time of the signal difference 1 in accordance with the stored content in the vicinity of the peak of the differential value of the device A3. Moreover, the operating circuit 6 calculates/determines the sensitivity as the ratio between the inclining amount and tracking shift amount per unit time corresponding to a set tape speed. The sensitivity is multiplied by the signal difference 1 at the normal reproducing time by a multiplying circuit 8. Accordingly, the tracking shift amount is highly accurately detected easily.</p> |
