PURPOSE: To realize a high display grade by making a liquid crystal display element adequately usable as a black and white display element particularly by a large-size full-dot matrix display and making the luminance of the display surface uniform, thereby suppressing the occurrence of unequal luminance and unequal colors. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display element is constituted by forming oriented films to cover the electrodes (scanning electrode and display electrode formed on the respective opposite surfaces of a pair of opposite substrates 11, 12 and forming the liquid crystal cells which are twist-oriented from the one substrate toward the other as liquid crystals 13 sealed between these oriented films are regulated in the orientation treatment directions applied on the respective oriented films. The orientation treatment directions are so set that the voltage impressed on the display region (fourth quadrant region 33) on the side opposite to the visual field direction C determined by the orientation treatment directions is larger than the voltage impressed on the other display region. The means for lowering the electrode resistance value in order to obtain a relatively high impression voltage is made possible by lowering sheet resistance or making the line width larger than the line width of the electrodes of the other display regions (first to third quadrant regions 30 to 32). |
