The device comprises a modular divider which can be placed inside different luggage items or other receptacles. The divider includes a separating wall (2) whose vertical edges cooperate with rigid supporting channels (3) or other formations on the interior of the luggage item. At least one face of the separating wall includes a pocket (4) dimensioned to receive documents etc. of a standard size, with a closure flap (5) at its open upper edge. The engagement between the vertical edges of the wall and the supporting channels etc. may be by clip engagement or may be a simple sliding fit. The luggage item may include a series of channels to support more than one divider.
