The auto-locking nut is of a simplified construction that does not comprise another part, the nut is a single piece. The nut may accept a washer. The nut (1) has a threaded interior and towards its base is a circular slit (4) of several millimetres in depth. The base of the nut is in the form of an inclined plane decreasing towards the edge of the nut and on the edge of the nut is a very small groove.
