<p>PURPOSE: To manufacture a color filter of superior quality through a simple process. CONSTITUTION: A transparent substrate 1 is brought into contact with one surface of a prism 6. An ink ribbon 4 is placed on the transparent substrate 1, a relief print plate 5 which has projection parts 5' forming a shape of color pixels is pressed against the ink ribbon 4, and air between the relief printing plate 5 and ink ribbon 4 is evacuated to bring only the ink ribbon 4 into contact with the transparent substrate 1 only at the parts of the projection parts 5'. The reverse surface of the transparent substrate 1 is irradiated with infrared rays 8 at an angle of incidence meeting the conditions of total reflection and only ink 2 at the projection parts 5' is selectively transferred to and fixed on the transparent substrate 1 with infrared rays 8 entering the ink ribbon 4 at the positions of the projection parts 5, where the transparent substrate 1 and ink ribbon 4 come into contact with each other. Thus, the color filter having the same characteristics as a conventional film resist method can easily by formed by the process and facilities which are nearly the same as a conventional printing method which prints the colors of R, G, and B individually.</p> |
