PURPOSE: To provide a bag separator for a storage battery excellent in strength and separator performance by applying an acid resisting thermally fusing resin to one surface of a paper-made sheet consisting of an inorganic material, a synthetic fiber and a binder, folding it in two to overlap the applied surfaces each other, and thermally fusing both the side edges. CONSTITUTION: A paper making part 1, a press part 2, a multicylinder type dryer 3 are successively used to make a paper-made sheet consisting of an inorganic material (silica, glass fiber), a synthetic fiber (polyester resin) and a binder (polyethylene). An acid resisting thermally fusing resin (polyolefin resin) is applied to one surface of the paper-made sheet by an applying machine 4 so as that the application quantity is about 5-20g/cm<2> , and the resulting sheet is dried by a hot air dryer 5, and pressed by a pressure roller 6 to form a separator sheet 10. The separator sheet 10 is folded in two with the applied layer inside and both the side edges are thermally fused to manufacture a bag separator. Thus, a separator useful for automobile storage battery can be easily and inexpensively provided. |
