<p>PURPOSE: To provide a low-cost and sure obstacle detection apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An obstacle detection apparatus is provided with a bender 2 which applies a bend in the axial direction to an optical fiber 3 so as to increase a loss. The optical fiber 3 is inserted into, and passed through, a through hole 4 in the bender 2. The bender 2 comprises a spring. The bender is arranged in such a way that the bender is turned by a springy force so as to apply the bend to the optical fiber 3. In the bender 2, the springy force of the spring is regulated by the end of a detection shaft 16. When the detection shaft 16 is moved so as to change its position, the regulation of the springy force is released, the bender 2 is turned, and the bend is applied to the optical fiber 3. Thereby, an obstacle detection apparatus in which the fear of a malfunction is extremely small is constituted of a simple mechanism in which light is incident from one end of the optical fiber so as to measure the light at the other end.</p> |
