PURPOSE: To surely inform the end of life time of a discharge lamp even in the case where a discharge lamp lighting device is arranged at a high position such as a ceiling, and furthermore, to inform a degree of the end of life time. CONSTITUTION: A discharge lamp lighting device is provided with an inverter circuit 3 for lighting a discharge lamp 2 at a high frequency, a life time end detecting unit 14 for detecting the end of life time of the discharge lamp, and a life time end alarm sound generating unit 15 for generating the buzzer sound at a different length in response to the degree of the end of life time when the life time end detecting unit 14 detects the end of life time. |
