PURPOSE: To prevent generation of abrupt brake torque when the lever is shifted to generate torque in the direction opposite to the advancing direction at the time of traveling and to facilitate the hill start operation. CONSTITUTION: The controller for electric vehicle comprises a shift lever for selecting between drive control and reverse control, and a revolution sensor for detecting the number of revolutions and rotational direction of the rotor of a motor. The controller further comprises a section for controlling the torque being generated from the motor to a lever TK lower than the maximum generating torque when the rotor is rotating at a speed higher than a predetermined rotational speed NS and to a level within the upper limit of torque equal to the maximum torque of the motor when the rotor is rotating at a speed lower than NS. |
