Control system for AC generator in vehicle

The vehicle has a Lundell-type three-phase AC generator (610) which may be driven by the engine. It has a field coil (620) forming part of the rotor driven by the engine (625) and a delta connected stator winding (615) connected to a rectifier (630). It is connected to a variety of accessories and electrical loads (670). A regulator system (680,621) controls the current fed to the generator field coil. It measures the voltage (650) output from the rectifier and adjusts the field excitation current accordingly. The field current may be limited to a given value.
