Switched linear reluctance motor

The electromagnetic linear drive has the rotor made of a periodic comb-like structure with soft magnetic iron poles occupying half a pole pitch, whereas the stator has poles in pairs, with the same width and pitch as the rotor, but spaced from each other by slightly more than a rotor pole pair pitch. If there are 2n stator poles in a pole group, there are (2n+1) stator poles aligning with (2n+2) rotor poles, so that the spacing between pairs of stator poles is (2n+3)/(2n-1) times the pole width, or the ratio of rotor to stator pole pair pitch is 1-1/(2n). The stator windings are switched with diodes.
