PURPOSE: To provide a vacuum valve with improved shutting properties. CONSTITUTION: A vertical magnetic field electrode 31 is so installed as to satisfy the following; a>r and z/a<1/√2; wherein r stands for the radius of a contactor 32 fixed in the face on the opposite to another electrode in another side of an electrode 33, a stands for the center radius of the coil part 31b which generates a magnetic field in the axial direction of the vertical magnetic field electrode 31 connected with the back side of the former electrode, and z stands for a half of the distance between the centers of the coil part 31b of the vertical magnetic field electrode 31 at the time when the electrodes are set in pole opened state.
