<p>A bioemulsifier designated Alasan or E-KA53 is produced from Acinetobacter radioresistens strain KA53. In its essentially pure form it has the characteristics of a molecular weight of from about 100,000 to 2,000,000 Daltons; emulsifying activity which increases with preheating at increasing temperatures - 60-90 °C; resistance to strong alkali while retaining increased emulsifying activity; reduced viscosity that varies as a function of temperature treatment; and emulsifying activity that varies as a function of pH and magnesium ions.</p> |
