<p>A method and an apparatus for reducing the power consumption in communication modules by setting one of wire or wireless communication module to a sleep mode when a wireless communication module is set to an infra mode. It is checked whether the wireless communications module operates or not(310). If the confirmation result, and the wireless LAN device operate, it is decided whether the wireless communications module operating operates in the single IP address mode(320). If the communication module is operated in a single IP address mode, it is checked that the network mode of the wireless communication mode is infra mode(330). It confirms whether the LAN cable is mounted on the wired communications module in case the confirmation result network mode is set up as the infrastructure mode or not(340). If the LAN cable is mounted on the confirmation result, and the wired communications module, the wireless communications module is set up as the sleep mode(350).
