The room darkening device has one or more units to receive control signals and to send them to motors for the roller blinds, etc. The signals emanate from sensors and the control signals are transmitted through the mains by frequency and/or amplitude modulation of the carrier frequency. There are on/off switches combined with the motors. For each motor, the output side of the receiver lies between it and the switch whereas the input side of the receiver is connected to the mains. The sensors measure the light radiation and if this exceeds an adjustable threshold, it sends control signals down the mains.
