The multiple workstation processing line employs twin roller conveyors (17,18) between e.g. milling machines (1,2) sited at the same horizontal level to transport rectangular plates (19) during machining of the edges (a,b,c,d) by milling cutters (6a,6b,11a,11b). On completion of the edges (a,d) the plate is conveyed to machine (2) guided by a rail (13) until the edge (c) strikes a fixed strap (16) which tilts it into a position for machining the edges (b,c). Before entry to machine (2) the plate is centred if necessary by angled guides (12a,12b) followed by a precise alignment as a result of a transverse bar (10) which can be raised or lowered w.r.t. the conveyor level and the feed rollers or bands (9a,9b).
