The marker anchor consists of a durable polymer-concrete head (1) with an identifying cross (7) on the upper surface and a central hole (8) to hold a ranging pole. This is fastened to an anchorage system (2) consisting of a length of hollow channel (16) which is C-shaped (10) with strengthened edges and corners (3). Slits (4) are cut in the side walls of the hollow section. Holes (5) may also be cut in the walls to allow earth penetration. The anchorage is rammed into the earth, almost to the top. The inner area of the section fills up with soil, providing an extremely firm hold. However, additional wings may be clipped to the side walls for even stronger anchorage.
