Oil sump for IC engine

The engine has a crankshaft which is rotatably mounted in a crankcase and carriers at least one connecting rod with a piston, moving in a cylinder covered by a cylinder head. On the crankshaft side the crankcase is enclosed by an oil sump (1a) with a fastening flange (2a), below which the oil sum forms a shaft contours. In the region of the fastening flange the oil sump is of rotation symmetrical configuration and is of longitudinally symmetrical configuration in the region extending below the fastening flange. Pref. bulkheads (6a) are formed in the oil sump.
