The armature (45) is axially movable relative to the input element (41), between an engaged position, in which the armature stands in frictional engagement with the output element, in order to drive this with the input element. A disengaged position is provided in which the armature is not in frictional engagement with the output element. In addition a solenoid (50) is provided, which selectively produces a magnetic field, in order to move the armature from the disengaged position in to the engaged position. The solenoid has a housing with an electric conductor winding (53) wound on a spool (54). The housing has an inner surface which engages with the outer surface of the output element, in order to support the housing rotationally on the output element.
