The disc-shaped scoring knife (1) used in roller or disc tooling for chip prodn. is fitted out with continuously bladed cutters fronted in turn by disc cutters held in knife-bars (11). The disc is circular (1) and made from tough hardened steel held on a boss (2) by a ring (9) held in place by fixer screws (10). The boss is carried on a hardened shaft (5) via a sintered bronze maintenance-free bushing (3). The setting of the disc knives (1) in their bars (11) is adjacently spaced depending on the scored length required. The entire knife-bar is exchanged for knife changes, each knife unit held in its bar by pressure pieces, fixer screws and counter-screws (6,7). The knives (1) can be re-ground, and the necessary lead obtained per bar by shimming (4) the disc clamping settings for the shaft (5) of the rotating disc tool (1).
