PURPOSE:To stably form a large quantity of printing plates for a long period of time without generating insoluble matter and gels in rinsing baths after development by executing a rinsing process with the plural rinsing baths and decreasing the pH of the rinsing baths toward the rear stages. CONSTITUTION:The rinsing process is executed with the plural rinsing baths and the pH of the rinsing baths is decreased toward the rear stages. More specifically, the pH of a first rinsing bath is adjusted to 11-13 and the pH of the final rinsing bath to 3-9, more preferably 6-9. The developing soln. to be used is preferably an strong alkali soln. of >=12pH. Since the pH of the first rinsing bath is thus set relatively high, a sharp decrease in the pH is obviated even if the carried over developing soln. is diluted. Deposition of insoluble matter and formation of silica gels are obviated and a large quantity of the printing plates are formed stably for a long period of time. |
