An interlock mechanism (22) is mounted proximate a door track (26) for a vehicle having a sliding door (12) and a fuel filler door (16) on the same side of the vehicle. The mechanism (22) has a pair of interacting links (40,70) which prevent either door (12,16) from opening when the other is already open. A first link (40) is connected to the filler door (12) and obstructs movement of a second link (70) in the door track, and thus the sliding door (12), when the filler door (16) is open. When the sliding door (12) is open, the second link (70) obstructs movement of the first link (40) which in turn prevents the filler door (16) from opening. <IMAGE> |
