FIELD: organic chemistry, synthesis of vitamin A. SUBSTANCE: Beta-ionone is prepared by cyclization of pseudo-ionone. The process is carried out at (-2)-(+10) C with the help of liquid anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, molar ratio pseudo-ionone and hydrogen fluoride being 1:6.0-11.0. Mentioned above hydrogen fluoride is used as cyclization agent. Said compound is distilled of reaction mixture and may be used again.
