PRODUCTION OF ELECTROLYTIC MANGANESE DIOXIDE

摘要

PURPOSE: To stably produce MnO2 having satisfactory crushability by suspending a specified amt. of surface-sulfonated carbon particles in an electrolytic soln. when electrolytic MnO2 is produced by a slurry method. CONSTITUTION: When electrolytic MnO2 is produced by a slurry method using an electrolytic cell contg. an aq. soln. of manganese sulfate as an electrolytic soln. and fitted with a Ti-Ni alloy plate contg. 5wt.% Ni as the anode and a graphite plate as the cathode, a soln. contg. manganese sulfate and sulfuric acid is used as the electrolytic soln. and sulfonated acetylene black produced from acetylene black and fuming sulfuric acid as starting materials is suspended in the electrolytic soln. by 0.1-1.0g/l. The electrolytic soln. is kept at 90±1 deg.C, electric current is supplied at 2.0A/dm<2> current density and electrolytic MnO2 electrodeposited on the anode plate is collected. The objective electrolytic MnO2 excellent in electric discharge property and crushability is stably produced.
