PURPOSE: To obtain an excellent method of stabilizing soot from which no metal bleeds, if left alone in the nature by treating the soot into a solid with the help of a siloxane compound. CONSTITUTION: Soot is stabilized by either mixing soot with a siloxane compound containing a siloxane bond as a basic skeleton and subjecting the mixture to a chemical reaction, or coating the mixture into a solid. In this case, it is possible to shorten a reacting time or a curing time for the mixture by treating it thermally, by light emission, irradiation with a radioactive beam or a laser, or by addition of a chemical. Thus the soot is covered with a water- repellent alkali-resistant siloxane compound, and is water-repellent with the heavy metal content enveloped completely to prevent it from being eluted. |
