PURPOSE: To produce a steel cord capable of markedly improving the durability of a radial tire through reinforcing its carcass therewith, esp. markedly improving the rupture resistance of the constituent filaments, and to produce the radial tire reinforced with this steel cord. CONSTITUTION: This steel cord has two-layer structure of (3+n) or (3+n+1) ((n) is 7-10) with the respective tensile strengths of the core and sheath filaments of >=360kg/mm<2> . In this case, the preforming/postforming rate of the sheath filament is set at 90-150%, while that rate of the core filament is set at the rate of the 1st sheath filament±3%. The radial tire is obtained by reinforcing the carcass with this steel cord.
