PURPOSE: To obtain a thermal transfer image receiving sheet capable of easily imparting a desired image to the surface of an article having an arbitrary shape and an arbitrary surface shape and capable of integrating an image with an article to be decorated by providing an image receiving layer on one surface of a transparent film. CONSTITUTION: A thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10 is fundamentally constituted by providing an image receiving layer 2 on one surface of an arbitrary transparent film 1 and further providing a release layer 3 on the surface of the image receiving layer 2. The release layer 3 prevents the thermal sticking of the thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10 and the image receiving layer 2 when a sublimable dye is transferred from the thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10 to form an image on the image receiving layer 2. Further, an intermediate layer 4 is provided between the image receiving layer 2 and the transparent film 1. Herein, the intermediate layer 4 has function making the formation of an image sufficient when the sublimable dye is transferred to the image receiving layer 2 from the thermal transfer image receiving sheet 10 to form an image and, for example, is composed of a cushion layer or a heat insulating layer.
