PURPOSE: To obtain a composition for oral cavity useful for preventing dental caries by combining a specific organic acid with a specific crude medicine or its extract and a prescribed kaurene type diterpenoid or bisphenol derivative. CONSTITUTION: This composition for oral cavity comprises (A) 0.05-50wt.% one or more selected from malic acid, fumaric acid, succinic acid, oxaloacetic acid, pyruvic acid, lactic acid and their salts and (B) one or more selected from 0.0005-50wt.% of a crude medicine selected from GOMIN (fruit of Schizandra chinensis), HOKOTUSI (bean of Psoralea corylifolia) and RENNGYOU (fruit of Forsythia suspensa) and its extract, 0.0005-50wt.% of a kaurene type diterpenoid having anα-methylenecyclopentanone structure and 0.005-10wt.% of bisphenol derivative. The composition has reducing effect on Streptococcus mutans, a carious bacterium to form lactic acid and proliferating effect on a bacterium of the genus Veillonella, a lactic acid decomposing bacterium.
