PURPOSE: To make more certain and stable judgment of abnormality than in a conventional method when torque is decreased while a transmission is operated. CONSTITUTION: In a memory 11 of an automatic transmission unit 20, predetermined patterns of rotating speed changes of an engine 10 are recorded. An engine rotating speed sensor 24 can detect actual engine rotating speeds during a transmission is operated. A comparator 13 compares an actual engine rotating speed output from the engine rotating speed sensor 24 during the transmission is operated with a rotating speed corresponding to the pattern of rotating speed changes of the engine 10 recorded in the memory 11 to calculate a difference rotating speed, and outputs this to CPU 15. The CPU 15 judges whether torque is normally decreased or not and whether failure is caused or not on the basis of the difference rotating speed and a driving condition at this time. |
