<p>PURPOSE: A system for managing an optical line is provided to monitor an optical power of the optical line always and automatically replace the corresponding optical line with another optical line when fault is generated in the corresponding optical line. CONSTITUTION: A monitoring optical signal transmitting device(6) outputs a monitoring optical signal for monitoring an optical line. Wavelength multiplexing/demultiplexing devices(7-1,7-2) combine the monitoring optical signal with a communication optical signal, or divide the combined signal into a monitoring optical signal and a communication optical signal. Interval-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-1¯10-3) installed in an interval of the optical line reflect a part of the monitoring optical signal. Termination-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-4¯10-6) installed in the termination of a subscriber side of the optical line reflect a part of the monitoring optical line. PLC(Planar Light wave Circuit)-type attenuators(8-1¯8-4) are installed in front ends of the interval-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-1¯10-3) and the termination-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-4¯10-6). The PLC-type attenuators(8-1¯8-4) automatically switch the optical line, and change the movement path of the communication optical line and the monitoring optical signal. Control devices(14,15-1¯15-3) connect to the interval-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-1¯10-3) and the termination-type wavelength reflecting devices(10-4¯10-6). The control devices(14,15-1¯15-3) detect the reflected monitoring optical signal, judge the fault of the optical line, and control the PLC-type attenuators(8-1¯8-4).</p> |
