PURPOSE: To produce a pure monoguanamine and diguanamine together without generating extreme heat and with only a little by-product formation by reacting a dinitrile having a specific structure with dicyandiamide under conditions such as a specific molar ratio. CONSTITUTION: A monoguanamine of formula II [(4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) group combines at 5- or 6-position] and a diguanamine of formula III [(4,6- diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) groups combine at 2,5 or 2,6-positions] are produced together by reacting dinitrile of formula I (CNs combine at 2,5- or 2,6-positions) with dicyandiamide in a molar ratio of 1:1.1-1.9 in the presence of a basic catalyst. An alkali metal, its hydroxide, an amine, ammonia, etc., is used as the basic catalyst. The reaction is preferably carried out in a non-aqueous protic solvent or in an aprotic polar solvent. Further, the reaction is preferably carried out at 60-200 deg.C. This production method enables extremely simple separation and purification of the products. |
