METHOD OF CONTROLLING OPERATION OF HEADLAMP IN CONJUNCTION WITH ACTION OF WINDSHIELD GLASS WIPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent headlamps from being turned on when windshield wipers are set in an intermittent mode by providing the step of tuning on the headlamps when windshield wipers are operated and the headlamps are not turned off within a predetermined time. SOLUTION: A microprocessor 50 determines which action is necessary on the basis of signals from a windshield wiper control switch 10 and a headlamp control switch 20. When windshield wipers 10 are operated or when speed settings have been changed, the microprocessor 50 determines whether or not the windshield wipers are in an intermittent operation mode. When the level of voltage is lower than a threshold level, the microprocessor 50 operates a headlamp relay 40. The presumption is, of course, that when the windshield wipers are set to an intermittent range, the driver is probably not addressing a weather condition requiring the use of headlamps.
