PURPOSE: To measure the drying time of recording ink on a recording sheet at the initial of recording and to set the following time to discharge by conveying means based on the result by optimizing the discharge time by providing means for detecting the drying state of ink and not largely changing recording conditions at each recording as long as the using environment is not largely changed. CONSTITUTION: This ink jet recorder comprises a recording head 1, conveying means 108 of a material P to be recorded, phase change detecting means 20, 109 for detecting the change of the surface of discharged ink from a liquid phase to a solid phase, time measuring means 103 for counting the phase changing time, discharging time setting means 101, 102 for setting the discharging time of the recorded material to be recorded, and means 100, 108 for controlling the discharge by the conveying means based on the set time. |
