PURPOSE: To obtain a buff abrasive comprising an alumina-zirconia abrading material subjected to a specific treatment and a solid oil or fat such as a fatty acid or a hardened oil, not producing an abrading flaw, excellent in abrasive characteristics, etc., and useful for the processed products of Ti, Ti alloy, etc. CONSTITUTION: This solid or liquid buff abrasive comprises (A) an alumina- zirconia abrading material (the content of the zirconia is 10-60wt.%) thermally treated at a temperature above the crystal transition point of the zirconia, preferably 650±50 deg.C, for a calcination time of 3-10hr and having a residual tetragonal zirconia ratio of 30%, and (B) a solid oil or fat such as a fatty acid or a hardened oil of the residual amount. The component A contains a rare earth element oxide such as yttrium oxide or calcium oxide as a stabilizer for forming a solid solution with the zirconia in a whole amount of 0.05-7wt.%. The Al2 O3 has preferably a crystal size of 0.1-1μm, and is preferably contained in an amount of 80-80wt.% in the abrasive.
