PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst which can give an ethylene/α-olefin copolymer having a highα-olefin content and a high molecular weight efficiently by using a combination of specified compounds. CONSTITUTION: This catalyst compsises a titanium amide compound (A) having a titanium-nitrogen bond, a compound (B) which reacts with a transition metal compound to form a stable anion, and an organoaluminum compound (C). Preferably component (A) is a titanium amide compound having at least two titaniumnitrogen bonds. Examples include titanium amide compounds represented by formulas I and II (R<1> to R<4> and R<7> to R<10> are each a 1-20C hydrocarbon group; X is O, S or N having a hydrocarbon group; and R<5> , R<6> , R<11> and R<12> are each a 1-20C hydrocarbon, 1-20C alkoxy, a 1-20C silicon-containing hydrocarbon group, or a halogen). An example of component B is a complex compound composed of an anion composed of boron and a plurality of groups bonded thereto and a cation.
