A data communication device (1) is composed of a data transmitter (10) and a data receiver (20). The transmitter (10) compresses and encodes the input data VIN by, e.g., the interframe compression-encoding method, and storing the data VIN in the payload section of a packet for transmission together with data for reproduction representing the variable speed reproducing method used on the receiving side. Namely, the data to be transmitted such as the AV data, and the data for reproduction which are necessary for processings such as the variable speed reproduction are transmitted in the same packet for transmission. The receiver (20) separates the compressed AV data and data for reproduction from the received packet for SDDI transmission, expands and decodes the compressed AV data, and performs variable speed reproduction of the AV data, for example, fast-forward reproduction, based on the separated data for reproduction. <IMAGE> |
