PURPOSE: To provide a light and compact air bag module for a front passenger seat which is of simple structure and performs effective shock absorbing action without needing any separate member. CONSTITUTION: This relates to an air bag module for a front passenger seat equipped with an air bag 2, which expands at collision to protect an occupant, an inflator 5, which expands the air bag 2, an air bag casing 10, which accommodates these air bag 2 and inflator 5, and a lid 1 whose foot 1B is fixed to the fixing part 7 of the rise flank 3B of the air bag casing 10 arranged on the side of the front passenger seat and which consists of thermoplastic elastomer material. The foot 1B has a function to absorb the light shock working on the front 1A of the lid by making itself 1B, erected from the front 1A of the lid to the fixing part 7, into a shock absorbing part with a specified length.
