PURPOSE: To obtain a cooling medium comprising hydrocarbon substances, excellent in sliding characteristics, reliability, safety, etc., and useful as a medium used for the freezing cycles of a freezing device, and further to provide a freezing device using the cooling medium and assembled in an air conditioner, etc. CONSTITUTION: This cooling medium comprises a saturated hydrocarbon containing an unsaturated hydrocarbon. The saturated hydrocarbon preferably has a boiling point of -50 to 0 deg.C. The cooling medium comprises preferably (A) the first cooling medium comprising a saturated hydrocarbon containing an unsaturated hydrocarbon, (B) the second cooling medium comprising at least one of a hydrogenated fluorocarbon cooling medium and a carbon fluoride cooling medium which have higher boiling points than that of the component A, and (C) the third cooling medium comprising a saturated hydrocarbon having a higher boiling point than that of the component B. For example, the cooling medium comprises propane as the saturated hydrocarbon of the component A, 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane as the component B, and butane as the component C, respectively. The cooling medium is preferably used as a cooling medium in a freezer. |
