PURPOSE: To suppress the beading at the time of recording at high speed and full-color by providing the value of the BET specific surface area/pore volume of an ink receiving layer to a specific range in a medium to be recorded which has an ink receiving layer containing pigment having specific agglomerate particle size and binder on a base material. CONSTITUTION: A medium to be recorded in which beading to be recognized as color irregularity of the size of about bead is scarcely occurred due to insufficient ink absorbence of the medium in an ink jet recording system for recording by flying fine ink droplets to be stuck to the medium to record comprises an ink receiving layer containing pigment having agglomerate particle size of 0.5 to 50μm and binder on a base material. The value of BET specific surface area/pore volume of the ink receiving layer is set to a range of 50 to 500m<2> /ml, and the pore volume of the ink receiving layer is set to a range of 0.1 to 1.0ml/g.
