PURPOSE: To obtain a diguanamine in high yield in a mild state without generating extreme heat and with only a little by-product formation by reacting a new monoguanamine with dicyandiamide under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION: A diguanamine of formula II [(4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl) groups combine at 2,5- or 2,6-positions] is obtained by reacting a monoguanamine of formula I [(4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine-2-yl) group combines at 5- or 6-position] with dicyandiamide in the presence of a basic catalyst. An alkali metal, its hydroxide, an alkaline earth metal hydroxide, an amine, ammonia, etc., is used as the basic catalyst. The reaction is preferably carried out in a non-aqueous protic solvent or in an aprotic polar solvent. Further, the reaction is preferably carried out at 60-200 deg.C. This method realizes simple production processes such as separation and purification of the products and enables easy handling of the raw material. |
