PURPOSE: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic device capable of forming and displaying images indicating a distribution of periodic movements by acquiring time series data from the plural sampling points distributed in space, determining periodicity from the time series data and forming the images expressing a relation between the distribution of the sampling points and the periodicity. CONSTITUTION: A time series data storage section 9 stores the data on the intensity of ultrasonic echo signals varying in time or the data on Doppler frequencies as the time series data. A periodicity extracting section 10 determines at least one among the max. value when the time series data is expressed by spectra, the frequency to give this max. value, the average of the magnitude, the average value of the frequencies and the area of the prescribed frequency range as periodicity extraction data by at least one of Fourier transform or auto-correction or crosscorrelation from the time series data. A DSC 5 forms the B mode images or M mode images or CFM images or periodicity extraction images. A CRT 6 displays the formed images on a screen.
